Utah's Scenic Byways and Backways View Detailed Map
It`s hard to go anywhere in Utah without taking a scenic drive. Roads cross vast stretches of desert, climb through colorful autumnal forests, meander along rivers and hug the rim of treacherous canyons. In fact, while traveling through this wonderfully varied scenery, it`s best to make someone else drive so you can enjoy the view without mishap. If driving alone or if taking your time, be sure to watch for the many pull-outs which feature signs interpreting the geology, wildlife, and human history of the routes. These pull-outs and scenic view areas are chosen to not only give you a break from sometimes arduous drives, but also to offer you a taste of the immense expanses of stunning lands for which this state is so justly renowned. The majority of these drives are accessible to most vehicles, but many scenic backways include remote graveled roads and may not always be passable. Some are impassable to all but high-clearance, four-wheel drive vehicles, and at that, only in good weather. Always call ahead for road conditions before attempting to drive a scenic backway. Begin a tour of Scenic and Back Country Byways by highlighting a site in the list above and then clicking the "Select" button. Or click on the "View Map" button to select sites from a detailed map.
